-Materials List

Step 1: Download the 3D Egg Holder Paper Craft Free SVG Cut File

Download the SVG file in my free Resource Library HERE. You can get the password for my library by filling out the newsletter form at the bottom of this post.

Save the downloaded zipped folder on your computer. Pay attention to where on your computer the folder downloads and then unzip the folder to extract the contents. The folder and files must be unzipped (extracted) before you can upload the SVG file into your cutting software.

Step 2: Upload the 3D Egg Holder Paper Craft Free SVG Cut File and Change Cut Lines to Score Lines

Upload the SVG file into Cricut Design Space. The SVG file will upload grouped together. You do not need to resize or ungroup this design. Doing so will change the dimensions to fit the eggs. The file is prepared to cut and will produce a holder that is approximately 5in width x 0.75in height x 1.75in depth.

Once uploaded, look for the solid cut lines. Select the layer, then move over to the OPERATION tab and change the operation from Basic Cut to SCORE. At this time, you will notice that the lines in the LAYERS panel have changed from solid lines to dashed lines. You will also notice this change on the canvas as well–dashed lines will appear on the elements of the design.

Step 3: Attach to Canvas

After you have changed the cut line to SCORE, you are ready to ATTACH. Select the grouping of SCORE line and colored element. Right click on the design to make the drop-down menu appear and select the ATTACH button. Or you can also select the ATTACH button towards the bottom right of your screen.

Then select Make in the upper right corner.

Step 4: Check Mat Preview

After you click Make it, a new window will open with your mat preview. When you are on this screen, you will see the software has prepared one (1) mats for the project. Look to the left to check to make sure that your machine will perform the operations: Score and Basic Cut. If you do not see the SCORE function, return to Step 2 and change the cut line to SCORE. Then click CONTINUE in the lower right corner of your screen.

Step 5: Card Stock Settings, Load Mat and Cut Materials

Once you click continue, your next screen will have your material selection menu. For this project, I am using the Medium Card Stock 80lb setting. You will also need your Scoring Stylus/Wheel. Check to make sure that your Light Grip mat and pattern card stock are ready.

Use your brayer to secure the card stock on the mat. Load and position your mat according to the mat guides. Begin your cut.

Please Note: You will need to use your Scoring Stylus/Wheel when the software prompts you, change the scoring tool loaded to represent the one that you are using.
