Money gifts are always a huge hit. Whether it’s for a birthday, shower, wedding–really any occasion–gifting money is always an easy win! Well as you know, football is a really big deal in my house. My son is a HUGE fan and truly loves all things football. As part of his birthday celebration, I crafted him this 3D Football Money Gift using paper. I added $50 dollars (I rolled and taped 50 dollar bills to each other) and stuck it inside. In order for him to get the money out, he will have to pull the laces and as he pulls on the laces the money will “roll” out. And I had to share this awesome craft with you, in case you also have a huge football fanatic in your life! Scroll below for a written tutorial and video assembly. Happy Crafting!

-Materials List

Step 1: Download the Football 3D Money Gift Paper Craft Free SVG Cut File

Download the SVG file in my free Resource Library HERE. You can get the password for my library by filling out the newsletter form at the bottom of this post.

Save the downloaded zipped folder on your computer. Pay attention to where on your computer the folder downloads and then unzip the folder to extract the contents. The folder and files must be unzipped (extracted) before you can upload the SVG file into your cutting software.

Step 2: Upload the Football 3D Money Gift Paper Craft Free SVG Cut File

Upload the SVG file into Cricut Design Space. The SVG file will upload grouped together. It is not necessary to resize the design. The design is scaled to fit the width of US dollar bill. (If you’re out of the US and your currency is of a different size, you can always fold your currency in half so that it can fit through the slot.) In the upper right corner, select the Ungroup button to ungroup the elements of the file from each other.

Step 3: Hide and Change Cut Lines to SCORE Lines

After you click ungroup, you will need to hide the white elements of the football. You can hide these layers by selecting each layer in the LAYERS panel and clicking the eyeball to the right of the layer. After you have hidden the layers, you must now change the cut lines on the football body to SCORE lines. This is a necessary step otherwise the football will cut into multiple pieces. In order to change the cut line to SCORE lines, select the solid cut line layer which is grouped to each football layer. Then in the OPERATIONS panel, select the drop-down arrow and then click SCORE.

Step 4: Attach Both Football Layers to the Canvas Separately

Now that you have changed the cut lines to SCORE lines, you must ATTACH the layers. Use your mouse to drag a box and select ONE grouping of the football layer. Right-click inside the box and a drop-down menu will open. Scroll and click attach or you can select attach in the lower right corner of your screen. Then repeat these steps for the SECOND football layer grouping.

Once you have attached both football layers separately, you will see in your Layers panel that both football pieces have attached individually. This step is necessary so that when you go to your mat preview, it will prepare TWO 12in x 12in cutting mats and not one 12in x 24in mat. Once you see that these layers have attached separately, select Make it in the upper right corner of your screen.

Step 5: Mat Preview

After you click Make it, a new window will open with your mat preview. When on this screen, you will see that your software has prepared TWO mats for the project. Check to make sure that your machine will perform both operations: Score and Basic Cut. Look towards the upper left of your screen and find where it shows the operations for Score AND Basic Cut. If you do not see both of these operations, click cancel and repeat step 3 of changing the cut line on the football layers to SCORE lines. If both score and basic cut are visible, click continue at the bottom right.

Step 6: Card Stock Cut Settings

Once you have clicked continue, your next window will be your card stock cut settings. For this craft, I will cut on the Cardstock 80lb setting. Again, take note that your machine operation is Basic Cut and Score. Be sure to have your scoring stylus or wheel loaded into your machine. Prepare TWO mats with your 8.5in x 11in Brown card stock. Use your Brayer to secure your card stock to you mat. Then, once you are satisfied that everything is correct, begin your cut. After your cut completes, return back to your main canvas so that you can cut the white elements of the football.

Step 7: Hide Football Layers, Rotate Laces, Attach Layers and Select Make It

After you have cut all the brown football layers and returned to your main canvas, hide the football layers and unhide the white elements. You will need to rotate the laces to a 90 degree angle to minimize the amount of card stock used. Arrange your card stock on your mat to match your canvas. Select all the layers and attach them to your canvas as you did in step 4. Then select Make it and follow the prompts to cut the pieces.

Step 8: Assemble the Football 3D Money Gift Paper Craft Free SVG Cut File Cut File
