Step 1: Download the Camping Gnomes with S’mores Paper Craft SVG Cut File

Download the SVG file in my free Resource Library HERE. You can get the password for my library by filling out the newsletter form at the bottom of this post.

Save the downloaded zipped folder on your computer. Pay attention to where on your computer the folder downloads and then unzip the folder to extract the contents. The folder and files must be unzipped (extracted) before you can upload the SVG file into your cutting software.

Step 2: Upload the Camping Gnomes with S’mores Paper Craft SVG Cut File

Once you have the folder and files extracted/unzipped, upload the Camping Gnomes with S’mores Paper Craft SVG Cut File into Cricut Design Space. The SVG will upload grouped together and does not need to be resized or ungrouped. The design is already sized to produce a sign that is approximately 9.7 in width x 8.3 in height. At this size you can use card stock that is 8.5in x 11in. Please Note: It is possible to size the design smaller but the design has several details to it. Sizing it too small can possibly make it harder for your machine to make the cuts.

However, if you wish to make the design larger you may do so by grabbing the handles around the bounding box of the design and moving your mouse until you achieve your desired size. Please Note: If you make the design larger you will need to use card stock that is 12in x 12in and more sheets.

Then after you have loaded the design onto the canvas, use the scroll bar beside the layers panel and scroll ALL the way to the bottom where you will see a Bright Blue layer. Select this layer and to the right of the layer, click the eyeball. Selecting the eyeball will hide this layer from the first series of cuts. This will also allow for the layer to be cut on kraft board for added extra support to the design. Please Note: It is possible to not use Kraft Board. If you choose not to use Kraft Board, you can cut this layer 3-4 times in regular card stock and glue it to the back of the design.

After you have the design uploaded on the canvas, at the size that you desire, the bright blue layer hidden, select Make It in the upper right corner.

Step 3: Mat Preview

After you have selected Make It, a new window will open with your mat preview screen. On this screen you will see that the software has prepared thirteen (13) mats for the cut. Use the scroll bar to the left and scroll through all the layers. Take note of each layer and the order of the layers.

When you are scrolling, take note of the layout of the elements on the different mats. You will need to ensure that the orientation of your paper is correct. Meaning your 8.5in x 11in card stock may need to be on your mat in the landscape or portrait position. Also, if you wish to rearrange any of the elements on any of the mats, you can do so by selecting the element on the mat and then moving it or using the rotate bar to the right of the selected element.

Once you have finished making your adjustments to the elements and taken note of the card stock order, ensure that the first mat is selected. If the first mat is not selected the cut order will not match the order of your card stock.

When you are ready to begin your cut, select the Continue button in the lower right corner.

Step 4: Intricate Card Stock Cut Settings

Once you have selected continue, your next screen will have your material selection menu. For this project, I will use the Custom Setting Card Stock for Intricate Cuts. Check again the order of the mats, arrangement of the elements and ensure that your card stock order matches the software order. Use your brayer to secure your card stock to your mat. Once you are ready to cut, load your mat into your machine and begin.

When your cut completes, return back to the main menu to cut the Kraft Board layer.

Step 5: Kraft Board Cut Settings

Once you have returned to the main menu, scroll all the way to the bottom and select the eyeball to the Bright Blue layer that was hidden in step 1. This will now unhide it in the panel. Then hide (by selecting the eyeball for each layer) or delete the elements of the file that you just cut. You should only have the Bright Blue Layer visible on the Cricut canvas. Select Make it in the upper right corner. Once your new window opens with your mat preview screen, select continue in the lower right corner. Then you will arrive at the cut settings screen. Select the Kraft Board cut setting by browsing all materials or selecting it from your favorites menu. Place the Kraft Board onto your cutting mat and use your brayer to secure it. Load your mat into your machine and select go.
