Instructions

Step 1: Download the Cauldron Gift Card Holder Free SVG File

Download the SVG file in my free Resource Library HERE. You can get the password for my library by filling out the newsletter form at the bottom of this post.

Save the downloaded zipped folder on your computer. Pay attention to where on your computer the folder downloads and then unzip the folder to extract the contents. The folder and files must be unzipped (extracted) before you can upload the SVG file into your cutting software.

Step 2: Upload the Cauldron Gift Card Holder Free SVG File

Once you have the folder and files extracted/unzipped, upload the Cauldron Gift Card Holder Free SVG File into Cricut Design Space. The SVG will upload grouped together and will produce a holder that is approximately 6.8 in width x 7.1 in height. You do not need to resize or ungroup the design.

Once the design is on the canvas, hide the glitter and acetate layers. In the layers panel, select all the green dots layer. This should be the very first layer. Also select both of the blue layers–these are the acetate layers. Then click the eyeball directly to the right of eachlayer. Clicking the eyeball will hide these layers for a later cut and different cut setting.

After you have hidden the glitter and acetate layers select Make It in the upper right corner.

Step 3: Mat Preview

Once you have selected Make It, a new window will open with your mat preview screen. On this screen you will see that the software has prepared five (5) mats for the cut. Use the scroll bar to the left and scroll through all the layers. Examine each layer and take note of the order of the layers. After you finish making adjustments, ensure that your first mat is selected.

When you are ready to begin your cut, select the Continue button in the lower right corner.

Step 4: Intricate Card Stock Cut Settings

After selecting Continue, your next screen will have your material selection menu. For this project, I will use the Custom Setting Card Stock for Intricate Cuts. Check again the order of the mats, arrangement of the elements and ensure that your card stock order matches the software order. Use your brayer to secure your card stock to your mat. Once you are ready to cut, load your mat into your machine and begin.

When your cut has complete, return to the main canvas for the Glitter Card Stock Layer cut.

Step 5: Glitter Cut Settings

When your cuts have completed and you have returned to your main canvas, go through the layers panel and hide all the layers you just cut by selecting the eyeballs to the right of each layer. Then unhide (by selecting the eyeball again) the green glitter layer–it should be the first layer. Select Make it in the upper right corner. Follow the prompts through the mat preview setting until you get to your Cut Settings window. Select the cut setting for Glitter Card Stock. If necessary Browse All Materials until you find the setting. Check again to make sure that your machine will complete the Basic Cut. Use your Brayer to secure the glitter card stock to your Light Grip Cutting Mat and select go.

Once your cut has complete, return to the main canvas for the Acetate Layer cuts.

Step 6: Acetate Cut Settings

When your cut have completed and you have returned to your main canvas, go through the layers panel and hide all the glitter layer you just cut by selecting the eyeball to the right of the layer. Then unhide (by selecting the eyeballs again) both Blue Acetate Layers. Select Make it in the upper right corner. Follow the prompts through the mat preview setting until you Continue to your Cut Settings window. Select the cut setting for Acetate. If necessary Browse All Materials. You should be able to find the Acetate Cut Setting under the Plastic Grouping in the list. Check again to make sure that your machine will complete the Basic Cut. Use your Brayer to secure the acetate to your Light Grip Cutting Mat and select go.
