Instructions

Step 1: Download the Free Bear in Stocking Gift Card Holder SVG

Download the SVG file in my free Resource Library HERE. You can get the password for my library by filling out the form at the bottom of this post.

Save the downloaded zipped folder on your computer. Pay attention to where on your computer the folder downloads and then unzip the folder to extract the contents. The folder and files must be unzipped (extracted) before you can upload the SVG file into your cutting software.

Step 2: Upload the Free Bear in Stocking Gift Card Holder SVG File into Design Space

Upload the SVG file into Cricut Design Space. The SVG file will upload grouped together. You do not need to resize the design. It is ready to cut. Once loaded, you will need to ungroup the file. Click the design and then in the upper right corner, click the ungroup button.

Step 3: Rearrange the File Elements and Attach to the Mat

Once you have ungrouped the design, it will need to be cut in different sections. First, select the stocking layers and hide them. In order to hide the layers, click the eyeball in the layers panel.

After the stocking layers are hidden, ungroup the bear face by selecting the face and then selecting the ungroup button towards the upper right corner of your screen. Then rearrange the elements of the bear face and the bear body (gift card holder area) on your mat. Take note of where you have placed all of the different elements and using your Light Grip Cutting mat, arrange your colored cardstock to match the mat arrangement on your screen.

Once you have your cutting mat arranged, select all the elements on your screen. Then right-click inside your selection. A drop-down menu will open. Scroll and click on the attach button. Then click Make It in the upper right corner of your screen.

Step 4: Mat Preview

After clicking Make It, a new screen will open with your mat preview settings. Double check the arrangement of your elements on your screen to the coordinating-colored cardstock on your Light Grip Cutting Mat. Also, to the left of your screen, check that your operation is Basic Cut. Once you have checked these steps, click continue in the lower left of your screen.

Step 5: Cardstock Cut Settings

Your next window will be for the Cardstock Cut Settings. For this craft, I will cut on the Cardstock 80lb setting. Again, check that your operation is Basic Cut to the left of your screen. Check that your fine point blade is loaded. Use your brayer to secure your cardstock to your mat, then load your mat into your machine. When you are ready, select Go. After your cut has completed, return to the main canvas.

Step 6: Cut Stocking and Stocking Cuff, Heel and Toe

Once you have returned to the main canvas, hide all the elements of the bear face and body that you just cut. Using your scroll bar in the Layers Panel, find the stocking elements and select the eyeball to unhide the hidden stocking layers. Select one stocking element and click the Flip Horizontal button. You will see an immediate flip of one stocking element. Then ungroup both stocking layers. Rearrange the stockings and the cuffs, heels and toes on the mat. Again, using your Light Grip Cutting Mat, arrange your cardstock to match the arrangement on your screen. Select all the elements and right-click inside the selection. When the drop-down menu opens, scroll and click Attach. Then click Make It in the upper right corner of your screen and follow the prompts to cut the elements.
