  • Cricut Light Grip Cutting Mat
  • One sheet of 12in x 12in Brown Cardstock
  • A scrap or one sheet of 8.5in x 11in black, pink, white and red cardstock
  • Glue. I am using Art Glitter Glue.
  • Cricut Brayer

Instructions

Step 1: Download the Free Christmas Reindeer Face Bag SVG

You can download the SVG file in my free Resource Library HERE. You can also get the password for my library by filling out the form at the bottom of this post.

Save the downloaded zipped folder to your computer. Take note where on your computer the folder downloads and then unzip the folder to extract the contents. The folder and files must be unzipped (extracted) before you can upload the SVG file into your cutting software.

Step 2: Upload the Free Christmas Reindeer Face Bag File into Design Space and Ungroup

Upload the SVG file into Cricut Design Space. The SVG file will upload grouped together. It is not necessary to resize the design. It will create a bag approximately 7in high x 4.7in wide x 1.5in deep. If you would like to make the bag larger, you can scale it larger but be sure to scale all the elements at the same time.

Once the design it uploaded, select the design and click Ungroup in the upper right corner of your screen. After you click ungroup, you will need to hide the elements of the reindeer face. You can hide these layers by selecting the layer in the LAYERS panel and clicking the eyeball to the right of the layer.

Step 3: Prepare the SCORE lines

After you have hidden the layers, you must change the cut lines on the side pieces to SCORE lines. This is a necessary step otherwise the side pieces will cut into multiple pieces. In order to change the cut line to SCORE lines, select the solid cut line layer. Then in the OPERATIONS panel, select the drop-down arrow and then click SCORE.

Step 4: Attach the Layer

Now that you have changed the cut lines to a SCORE lines, you must ATTACH the layers. Use your mouse to drag a box and select all the brown layers. Right-click inside the box and a drop-down menu will open. Scroll and click attach or you can select attach in the lower right corner of your screen. Then select Make it in the upper right corner of your screen.

Step 5: Mat Preview

After you click Make it, a new window will open with your mat preview. When on this screen, you will see the layers for the project. Check to make sure that your machine will perform both operations: Score and Basic Cut. Look towards the upper left of your screen and find where it shows the operations for score AND basic cut. If you do not see both of these operations, click cancel and repeat step 3 of changing the cut line on the side piece layers to SCORE lines. If both score and basic cut are visible, click continue at the bottom right.

Step 6: Cardstock Cut Settings

Once you have clicked continue, your next window will be your cardstock cut settings. For this craft, I will cut each layer on the Cardstock 80lb setting. Take note that your machine operation is Basic Cut. and Score. Be sure to have your scoring stylus or wheel loaded into your machine. Again, when you are satisfied that everything is correct, begin your cut. After your cut completes, return back to your main canvas so that you can cut the elements of the reindeer face.

Step 7: Cut the Reindeer Face Elements

After you have cut all the brown layers and returned to your main canvas, hide all the brown layers and unhide the elements of the reindeer face. Arrange them on your canvas and arrange your colored cardstock on your cutting mat to match your screen. Select all the layers and attach them to your canvas as you did in step 4. Then select Make it and follow the prompts to cut the pieces.
