Step 1: Download the Easter Paper Cross Gift Box Free SVG Cut File

Download the SVG file in my free Resource Library HERE. You can get the password for my library by filling out the newsletter form at the bottom of this post.

Save the downloaded zipped folder on your computer. Pay attention to where on your computer the folder downloads and then unzip the folder to extract the contents. The folder and files must be unzipped (extracted) before you can upload the SVG file into your cutting software.

Step 2: Upload the Easter Paper Cross Gift Box Free SVG Cut File

Upload the SVG file into Cricut Design Space. The SVG file will upload grouped together. The design is sized to produce a cross that is approximately 7in height x 4.5in width. You do not need to resize the design (unless you wish to make a larger cross); it is ready to cut.

Select the Ungroup button in the upper right, under LAYERS to ungroup the design from itself.

Step 3: Change Cut Lines to SCORE lines and Attach to Canvas

After you have ungrouped the file, in the LAYERS panel, look for the solid cut lines. Select them, then move over to the OPERATION tab and change the operation from Basic Cut to SCORE. At this time, you will notice that the lines in the LAYERS panel have changed from solid lines to dashed lines. You will also notice this change on the canvas as well–dashed lines will appear on the elements of the design.

Once you have changed the cut lines to SCORE, you are ready to ATTACH. Select each grouping of SCORE line and colored element. Right click on the design to make the drop-down menu appear and select the ATTACH button. Or you can also select the ATTACH button towards the bottom right of your screen.

Then select Make in the upper right corner.

Step 4: Check Mat Preview

After you click Make it, a new window will open with your mat preview. When you are on this screen, you will see the software has prepared four (4) mats for the project. Take a few moments to scroll through the mats and view the elements. Use the scroll bar to the left to check to make sure that your machine will perform the operations: Score and Basic Cut for both the top and bottom of the cross.

Arrange your card stock and mats to match the order on your screen. Once you are certain of the order of the mats and that all the functions are complete, make sure that your first mat is again selected. Then click CONTINUE in the lower right corner of your screen.

Step 5: Card Stock Settings, Load Mat and Cut Materials

Once you click continue, your next screen will have your material selection menu. For this project, I am using the card stock setting of Card Stock for Intricate Cuts Setting. You will also need your Scoring Stylus/Wheel. Check to make sure that your Light Grip mats are in the correct order and match the sequence your software has prepared.

Use your brayer to secure the card stock on the mat. Load and position your mat according to the mat guides. Begin your cut.

Please Note: You will need to use your Scoring Stylus/Wheel when the software prompts you. Or when you are ready to load a mat that requires the scoring, change the scoring tool loaded to represent the one that you are using.
