The Fourth of July, aka Independence Day, is a huge holiday in the United States. It celebrates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, which declared the thirteen American colonies as a new nation, independent from British rule. It is also a huge time for decorating as a crafter. And this Fourth of July Gnome Sign Free SVG is a fantastic way to get crafting for the holiday. Use your red, white and blue card stock and your cutting machine for this easy to cut and easy to assemble paper craft. Scroll below for the written and video tutorial.

-Materials List

Step 1: Download the Fourth of July Gnome Sign SVG Free Cut File

Download the SVG file in my free Resource Library HERE. You can get the password for my library by filling out the newsletter form at the bottom of this post.

Save the downloaded zipped folder on your computer. Pay attention to where on your computer the folder downloads and then unzip the folder to extract the contents. The folder and files must be unzipped (extracted) before you can upload the SVG file into your cutting software.

Step 2: Upload the Fourth of July Gnome Sign Free SVG Cut File

Upload the SVG file into Cricut Design Space. The SVG file will upload grouped together and is designed to produce a sign that is approximately 11.4in width x 10in height. You do not need to resize the design (unless you want to). If you resize the design to make it larger you will need to use card stock that is 12in x 24in. Once the design is loaded onto your canvas, it is ready to cut. Select the Make It button in the upper right corner of your screen.

Step 3: Mat Preview

After you select Make It, a new window will open with your mat preview. When you are on this screen, you will see the software has prepared nine (9) mat layers for the project. Using the scroll bar to the left, check to make sure that your machine will perform the Basic Cut operation for each mat. Also check and take note of the order of the layers. Arrange your card stock and mats to match the order that your software has prepared. After you have the card stock order and everything looks correct, select Continue.

Step 4: Card Stock Cut Settings

Once you have clicked continue, your next window will have your card stock cut settings. For this craft I am using the Card Stock for Intricate Cuts Setting, Because of the delicate cuts for the star details, it is necessary to slow down the speed of the blade. Use the scroll bar to the left of your screen to again take note of the order of the mats and the operation to be preformed. Again, confirm that your card stock order matches the order on your screen. Use your Bayer to secure your card stock to the mat. When you are assured that everything is correct, begin your cut.

Step 5: Assemble the Fourth of July Gnome Sign Free SVG Cut File

That’s it! All done! You have finished cutting the Fourth of July Gnome Sign Free SVG Cut File and are now ready to assemble. Check out this short video for the easy assembly.
