I, without a doubt, believe that you will be able to use one of these designs to create something amazing! How will you use them to craft and celebrate the holiday?

Celebrate Juneteenth

One of the most important days in United States history was June 19, 1865. This day marked the freedom of enslaved African-Americans in Texas, long after Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. The name Juneteenth combines the date of the holiday, “June” and “nineteenth”. It is the meaning of the name that brings us to this first design; Celebrate Juneteenth. And there are so many ways that you can use this design. For example, you could use this design to make a shirt, a porch sign or tiered tray sign.

Juneteenth 1865 Stamp

On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas. Upon his arrival, he read from the General Order 3. This order communicated to the enslaved people in Texas Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. As a result of the reading, Juneteenth was born. The day also became known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day or Black Independence Day. These different names and the Galveston location are the inspiration of this design. Use this grunge stamp design for many different craft projects. For instance, you could make keychains, mugs, or phone cases. Lots of different possibilities await! Due to the design’s grunge appearance and some of the smaller sections, I recommend cutting on an intricate setting or slowing down your cutting machine blade speed.

Juneteenth Sunglasses

One year after Granger’s arrival in Galveston, freed men and woman began the annual celebration of Juneteenth. Consequently, as people migrated from Texas the tradition spread across the nation. On January 1, 1980, Texas became the first state to make Juneteenth a state holiday. And over the next several years, other states followed suit until Juneteenth was officially recognized as a federal holiday on June 17, 2021. Thus bringing us to this fun Juneteenth Sunglasses design. Not only could you use this design on shirts or signs but it would look cute on the cover of a binder!

Juneteenth Rainbow

Similarly like the name, the colors of Juneteenth are symbolic and full of meaning. Red stands for the blood that was shed over the battle of slavery and racism. Secondly, is green which symbolizes the growth and fertility of Africa. Black represents the melanated skin color of Africans and people of African descent. Lastly is yellow, which was not initially included in the colors, but was inspired by the Ethiopian flag. It represents optimism, hope and justice for all people. The colors are also symbolic to the Pan-Africian flag. And the meaning of these colors is the inspiration for this Juneteenth Rainbow design. What will you create? It would be perfect for a shopping tote, shirt or sign!

Finally, I hope these designs have sparked some creativity for you. I can’t wait to see how you use your talents to bring them to life. Leave a comment on this post over on my Facebook page, AllThingsWereCreated20. Can’t wait to chat with you! See you there!
