Instructions

Step 1: Download the Haunted House Layered Paper Craft Free SVG

Download the SVG file in my free Resource Library HERE. You can get the password for my library by filling out the newsletter form at the bottom of this post.

Save the downloaded zipped folder on your computer. Pay attention to where on your computer the folder downloads and then unzip the folder to extract the contents. The folder and files must be unzipped (extracted) before you can upload the SVG file into your cutting software.

Step 2: Upload the Haunted House Layered Paper Craft Free SVG

Once you have the folder and files extracted/unzipped, upload the Haunted House Layered Paper Craft Free SVG Cut File into Cricut Design Space. The SVG will upload grouped together and does not need to be resized or ungrouped. The design is already sized to produce a craft that is approximately 10.6 in width x 10.1 in height. Please Note: It is possible to size the design smaller but the design has a great amount of details to it. Sizing it too small will make it harder for your machine to make the cuts.

However, if you wish to make the design larger you may do so by grabbing the handles around the bounding box of the design and moving your mouse until you achieve your desired size. Please Note: If you make the design larger you will need to use card stock that is 12in x 24in or larger.

After you have the design uploaded on the canvas, at the size that you desire, the bright blue layer hidden, select Make It in the upper right corner.

Step 3: Mat Preview and Rearrangement of White Mats

After you have selected Make It, a new window will open with your mat preview screen. On this screen you will see that the software has prepared fifteen (15) mats for the cut. Use the scroll bar to the left and scroll through all the layers. Take note of each layer and the order of the layers.

When you are scrolling, take note of the layout of the elements on the different mats. You will see that the software has prepared three (3) mats for both the white and black layers. We can rearrange the layers on these mats to make it so that only two (2) mats will be needed for each.

First, search the mats to find the three (3) WHITE mats. Select the mat that has the one, single, smaller white element. Click the element and then select the three dots to the the left of the bounding box. Click Move object and select the white mat that has two elements and then click continue. Then select the mat you just moved and rearrange ALL three elements so that they will fit on the mat. It will be necessary for some of them to be at an angle.

Step 4: Mat Preview and Rearrangement of Black Mats

Once you have finished rearranging the white elements, find the three (3) BLACK mats. Again, select the mat that has the one, single, smaller black element. Click the element and then select the three dots to the the left of the bounding box. Click Move object and select the black mat that has two elements and then click continue. Then select the mat you just moved the element to and rearrange ALL three elements so that they will fit on the mat. It will be necessary for some of them to be at an angle.

Then once you have finished making your adjustments to the elements and taken note of the card stock order, ensure that the first mat is selected. If the first mat is not selected the cut order will not match the order of your card stock.

When you are ready to begin your cut, select the Continue button in the lower right corner.

Step 5: Intricate Card Stock Cut Settings

After you have selected continue, your next screen will have your material selection menu. For this project, I will use the Custom Setting Card Stock for Intricate Cuts. Check again the order of the mats, arrangement of the elements and ensure that your card stock order matches the software order. Use your brayer to secure your card stock to your mat. Once you are ready to cut, load your mat into your machine and begin.

Please Note: Take care when removing your card stock from the mats. Remember to peel your mat away from the card stock and take your time!
