-Materials List

  • I am using my Cricut Maker. You could use your Cricut Explore or another similar cutting machine.
  • 12in x 12in Light Grip Cutting Mat
  • One (1) 12in x 12in sheet of card stock in Yellow Glitter and Green Glitter
  • One (1) 8.5in x 11in sheet of card stock in White, Dark Green, Light Green and Medium Green
  • Brayer (to secure card stock to the mat)
  • Glue. I am using Art Glitter Glue

Step 1: Download the Lucky Layered Horseshoe Free SVG Cut File

Download the SVG file in my free Resource Library HERE. You can get the password for my library by filling out the newsletter form at the bottom of this post.

Save the downloaded zipped folder on your computer. Pay attention to where on your computer the folder downloads and then unzip the folder to extract the contents. The folder and files must be unzipped (extracted) before you can upload the SVG file into your cutting software.

Step 2: Upload the Lucky Layered Horseshoe Free SVG Cut File into Design Space

Upload the SVG file into Cricut Design Space. The SVG file will upload grouped together. You will not need to resize or ungroup this design. It is prepared to cut. However, if you wish to resize the design to make it larger or smaller, you may do so by grabbing the handle bars at the corner of the bounding box and moving inward or outward.

Also, if you wish to cut some layers in Glitter card stock, select the layer and then click the eyeball to the right of the layer. This will hide the layers that will be cut with glitter card stock. Then click Make It in the upper right corner.

Step 3: Check Mat Preview

Once you have selected Make, a new window will open with your mat preview screen. On this screen you will see that the software has prepared four (4) mats for the cut. Using your scroll bar to the left, take note of each layer and the order of the layers.

Then after you have noted the layers, ensure that the first mat is selected. If the first mat is not selected the cut order will not match the order of your card stock.

When you are ready to begin your cut, select the Continue button in the lower right corner.

Step 4: Card Stock Settings, Load Mat and Cut Materials

After selecting Continue, your next screen will have your material selection menu. For this project, I will use the Medium Card Stock 80lb Setting. Check again the order of the mats, arrangement of the elements, that Basic Cut is the operation that will be completed and ensure that your card stock order matches the software order. Use your brayer to secure your card stock to your mat. Once you are ready to cut, load your mat into your machine and begin your cut. Then return to the canvas to cut your Glitter layers.

Step 5: Glitter Card Stock Cut Settings

When your cuts have completed and you have returned to your main canvas, go through the layers panel and hide (or delete) all the layers you just cut by selecting the eyeballs to the right of each layer. Then unhide (by selecting the layer and then the eyeball for) the layers you will cut on Glitter Card Stock. Again, no adjustments are necessary. So select Make in the upper right corner. Follow the prompts through the mat preview setting.

Please Note: I used two (2) different sheets of Glitter Card Stock for my cuts. I used a Yellow Glitter Card Stock for my horseshoe and a Green Glitter Card Stock for my background horseshoe and clover layers.

Then select Continue to proceed to your Cut Settings window. Select the setting for Glitter Card Stock. If necessary, click Browse All Materials and look for the setting. Check again to make sure that your machine will complete Basic Cut. Use your Brayer to secure the glitter card stock to your Light Grip Cutting Mat and select go.
