Mardi Gras is a holiday usually celebrated in Louisiana but throughout the states. The holiday involves many parades, floats and always includes lots of colorful masks. This FREE Mardi Gras Mask SVG will allow you to DIY your own mask and join in on the celebration. Scroll below for your written tutorial and video assembly.

-Materials List

  • I am using my Cricut Explore. You could use your Cricut Maker or another similar cutting machine
  • Light Grip Cutting Mat
  • One sheet of 12in x 12in Glitter Cardstock in Purple, Gold and Green
  • Glue. I am using Art Glitter Glue.
  • Brayer
  • Wood Dowel Rod, 3/16in like these
  • Purple Paint (your choice)
  • Paintbrush (small craft paint brush)
  • Paper Plate or Cardboard (for resting the rod as you paint)
  • Hot Glue Gun with Glue Stick

Step 1: Download the Free Mardi Gras Mask SVG Cut File

You can download the SVG file in my free Resource Library HERE. You can also get the password for my library by filling out the form at the bottom of this post.

Save the downloaded zipped folder to your computer. Take note where on your computer the folder downloads and then unzip the folder to extract the contents. The folder and files must be unzipped (extracted) before you can upload the SVG file into your cutting software.

Step 2: Upload the Free Mardi Gras Mask SVG Cut File

Upload the SVG file into Cricut Design Space. The SVG file will upload grouped together. There is no need to ungroup or adjust the design. After the design is uploaded into Design Space, click Make it in the upper right corner.

Step 3: Mat Preview

After you click Make it, a new window will open with your mat preview. When on this screen, you will see the layers for the project. Look at the top toolbar and take note of the number of mats needed. It should show 3 mats. Use the scroll bar to the left of the screen to scroll and view each mat layer. Take note of the order of the mats and arrange your cardstock to match the order your software has prepared. After you have the order and everything looks correct, select continue.

Step 4: Cardstock Cut Setting

Once you have clicked continue, your next window will have your cardstock cut settings. For this craft and because I am using Glitter Cardstock, I will cut each layer on using the Glitter Cardstock setting. Use the scroll bar to the left of your screen to again take note of the order of the mats. Again, confirm that your cardstock order matches the order on your screen. Use your Cricut Bayer to secure your cardstock to the mat. When you are assured that everything is correct, begin your cut.

Step 5: Assemble the FREE Mardi Gras Mask SVG Cut File

That’s it! You have come to the end of cutting the Mardi Gras Mask. Super easy and short, right? Check out this short video of the handle preparation and cardstock assembly.
