-Materials List

Step 1: Download the Thanksgiving Milk Crate Turkey Free SVG

You can download the SVG file in my free Resource Library HERE. You can also get the password for my library by filling out the form at the bottom of this post.

Save the downloaded zipped folder to your computer. Take note where on your computer the folder downloads and then unzip the folder to extract the contents. The folder and files must be unzipped (extracted) before you can upload the SVG file into your cutting software.

Step 2: Upload the Thanksgiving Milk Crate Turkey Free SVG File into Design Space

Upload the SVG file into Cricut Design Space. The SVG file will upload grouped together and is designed to produce a Milk Crate Turkey that is approximately 3.5in length x 6.5in height x 2.5in depth. Once the design is loaded onto your canvas, you will need to select the design and click the UNGROUP button ONCE. This is the only time you will need to ungroup.

Step 3: Change Cut Lines to SCORE lines

After you ungroup the design, it is necessary to change the cut lines to SCORE lines. Use the scroll bar in the LAYERS panel to scroll to find the solid cut lines. They will be grouped together with brown box cut element. (DO NOT ungroup them) Select the solid cut line layer, move over to the OPERATIONS panel, select the drop-down arrow and then click SCORE. The cut lines will immediately change to SCORE lines. This will be evident because you will see dashed lines on your screen.

If you do not change these cut lines to SCORE lines then the design will cut in pieces!

Step 4: Attach Layers

Once you have SCORED the solid cut line, you must now ATTACH it to the canvas. Use the LAYERS scroll bar to the score line and its coordinating brown cut layer and select the grouping. Now you can right click in the selected design on your canvas and when the drop-down menu opens, scroll and click ATTACH. Or you can select the ATTACH button in the lower right corner of your screen.

Step 5: Mat Preview

After selecting Make It, a new screen will open with your Mat Preview screen. You will see that the software has prepared eight (8) mats. Use the scroll bar to the left and scroll through all the layers. Take note of each layer and the order of the layers.

If you would like, rearrange the elements on the mat to fit your desired card stock sheets. After you finish making adjustments to the elements and taken note of the card stock order, ensure that your first mat is selected. If the first mat is not selected, the cut order will not match the order of your card stock.

When you are ready to begin your cut, select the Continue button in the lower right corner.

Step 6: Card Stock Cut Settings

After selecting Continue, your next screen will have your material selection menu. For this project, I will use the Custom Setting Card Stock for Intricate Cuts. Check again the order of the mats, arrangement of the elements and ensure that your card stock order matches the software order. Use your brayer to secure your card stock to your mat. Once you are ready to cut, load your mat into your machine and begin.
