-Materials List

Step 1: Download the Happy Mother’s Day Flower Wreath Free SVG

Download the SVG file in my free Resource Library HERE. You can get the password for my library by filling out the newsletter form at the bottom of this post.

Save the downloaded zipped folder on your computer. Pay attention to where on your computer the folder downloads and then unzip the folder to extract the contents. The folder and files must be unzipped (extracted) before you can upload the SVG file into your cutting software.

Step 2: Upload the Happy Mother’s Day Flower Wreath Free SVG

Upload the Happy Mother’s Day Flower Wreath SVG Cut File into Cricut Design Space. The SVG will upload grouped together and is sized to produce a wreath that is approximately 13in width x 13in height. Once you have the design uploaded and on your canvas, select the design and then click the ungroup button ONCE in the upper right corner. This will allow you to now work with the different grouped elements of the file.

Step 3: Hide the Leaf Layer and Brown Kraft Board Layer

After ungrouping the design, use the Layers scroll bar, to the right of the screen, to scroll towards the bottom of the layers. Find the brown kraft board layer and the leaf layers. Select those layers and then select the eyeball to the right of the layer to hide them from this cut. When you have hidden these layers, select the Make It button in the upper right corner of your screen.

Step 4: Examine the Mat Preview

After selecting Make It, a new window will open with your mat preview. On this screen you see that the software has prepared 11 mats for this cut. Use the scroll bar to find the two white layers.

Select the mat that has one flower. Select the element on the mat. Then click the three dots that appear at the bounding box. A drop-down menu will open, select move object and a mini-window will open. When the mini-window opens chose the other white mat that has the remaining white flowers and then select continue to move the single flower to the mat with multiple flowers.

Once the single flower has been moved, return to the multiple flower mat. Rearrange the flowers on the mat to accommodate the new single flower. Select the individual flowers by clicking on them and then rearrange them on the mat so that they all fit. If necessary use the rotate bar to rotate the individual flowers.

After you have rearranged the white flower mat, take a few moments to examine the order of mats. Use the scroll bar to the left of your screen to examine this order. Then arrange your card stock and mats to coordinate with the order that your software prepared. Once you have prepared your card stock to match the order, select the continue button in the lower right corner.

Step 5: Card Stock Cut Settings

Your new window will open with your Card Stock Cut Settings. These layers can be cut on the Medium Card Stock 80lb setting. Again, use the scroll bar to the left of the screen to take note of the order of the mats and confirm that your card stock matches the order. You should also now see that the software has prepared 10 mats for you. Use your brayer to secure your card stock to your Light Grip Cutting Mats. Once you are satisfied that everything is correct, load your mat into the machine and begin your cuts.

Pro Tip: After each cut, peel the mat away from your card stock. This will keep the card stock from curling.

Step 6: Cut the Leaf Layers

After you have cut all of the main layers, return back to the main canvas. Use the Layers scroll bar and select the eyeball to hide all of the layers that you just cut. When you get to the dark green leaf layers, click the eyeball on the layer to unhide the leaves. Select the layer or the design and then in the rotate tool bar, rotate the layer to 45 degrees. This step is necessary!! If you do not rotate the layer you will not be able to make the cut on a 12in x 12in card stock sheet and you will be forced to use a 12in x 24in card stock sheet.

Once you have rotated the layer, select Make It in the upper right corner. Your mat preview screen will open and you will see that the software has prepared two (2) mats for you. Check to make sure that for both mats the layers are rotated and then select the Continue button in the lower right corner. After selecting Continue your Card Stock Cut Settings window will open. Cut both layers on the Medium Card Stock 80lb setting. Use your brayer to secure your dark green card stock sheets to your Light Grip Cutting Mats. Load your machine and begin your cuts. After you have finished return to the main canvas.

Step 7: Cut the Kraft Board Layer

Once you have finished your leaf layer cuts, return to the main canvas. Hide the leaf layers you just cut by selecting the layers and then clicking the eyeball. Then select the brown layer and click the eyeball to unhide it. Select Make it in the upper right corner. Your Mat Preview screen will open and then select continue. Your Card Stock Cut Settings window will now open. For cutting this layer, set your machine to Custom Material and select the Kraft Board setting. If you are using your Cricut Maker, again select the Kraft Board setting.

Use your brayer to secure the Kraft Board to your Light Grip Cutting Mat. Load your machine and begin your cut. Once this cut ends, you have finished cutting all the layers.
