-Materials List

  • I am using my Cricut Explore. You could use your Cricut Maker or another similar cutting machine.
  • Light Grip Cutting Mat
  • Brayer
  • One (1) 8.5in x 11in sheet of double sided card stock in Coral and Yellow
  • One 6in x 6in sheet or a scrap of card stock in White
  • Pearl Beads (I used pearls but any color beads would work as long as the color coordinates with your flower)
  • Glue. I am using Art Glitter Glue
  • Hot Glue Gun with Hot Glue Sticks

Step 1: Download the Oval Easter Egg Treat Basket Free SVG Cut File

Download the SVG file in my free Resource Library HERE. You can get the password for my library by filling out the newsletter form at the bottom of this post.

Save the downloaded zipped folder on your computer. Pay attention to where on your computer the folder downloads and then unzip the folder to extract the contents. The folder and files must be unzipped (extracted) before you can upload the SVG file into your cutting software.

Step 2: Upload the Oval Easter Egg Treat Basket Free SVG Cut File

Upload the Oval Easter Egg Treat Basket FREE SVG Cut File into Cricut Design Space. The SVG will upload grouped together. It is sized to produce a basket that is approximately 2.5in diameter x 3.5in height. Select the design and Ungroup the file ONCE by clicking the ungroup button in the upper right corner, under Layers.

Step 3: Ungroup the file and Change Cut Lines to Score Lines

Once you have ungrouped the design, select the small cut line grouped on the rectangular side piece. Then select the drop down menu in the OPERATIONS panel and click SCORE. This will change the cut line to a SCORE line. This step is necessary to prevent the rectangle from cutting into multiple pieces.

Step 4: Attach Same Colors and Select Make It

After you have changed the cut line to a SCORE line, select all the layers that are the coral color. Right-click in the selection box that has appeared on the design and select ATTACH in the pop-up menu. Then select MAKE It in the upper right corner.

Step 5: Examine the Mat Preview

Once you have selected MAKE It, a new window will open with your Mat Preview screen. On this screen you will see that your software has prepared three (3) mats. Use the scroll bar to the left to view all the mats and take note of the order. Arrange your card stock and mats to match the order shown on your screen. Check to make sure that the mat with the rectangular element will perform a cut AND score. If you do not see both operations, return to Step 3 and change the cut line to a score line. Once you have confirmed the order and checked the operations, select Continue.

Step 6: Check Cut Settings

After you click continue, a new window will open with your card stock cut settings. For this project, I will cut using the Card stock 80lb setting. Use your scroll bar to the left to confirm the order of your mats and the operations. Remember to use your brayer to secure your card stock to your mat. Once you are satisfied that everything is correct, load your mat into the machine and begin your cuts.
