-Materials List

  • I am using my Cricut Maker. You could use your Cricut Explore or another similar cutting machine.
  • Light Grip Cutting Mat
  • Glue. I am using Art Glitter Glue
  • Brayer
  • One (1) 8.5in x 11in sheet of card stock in Light Gray, White, Peach, Yellow, and Red
  • A scrap or One (1) 8.5in x 11in sheet of card stock in Pink
  • One (1) 12in x 12in sheet of card stock in Black

Instructions

Step 1: Download the Snowman Holding Merry Sign Free SVG

You can download the SVG file in my free Resource Library HERE. You can also get the password for my library by filling out the form at the bottom of this post.

Save the downloaded zipped folder to your computer. Take note where on your computer the folder downloads and then unzip the folder to extract the contents. The folder and files must be unzipped (extracted) before you can upload the SVG file into your cutting software.

Step 2: Upload the Snowman Holding Merry Sign Free SVG into Design Space

Upload the SVG file into Cricut Design Space. The SVG file will upload grouped together. The SVG is designed to produce a Snowman that is approximately 6.7in x 6.7in. You do not need to resize the design. It is ready to cut. However, if you wish to make a larger or smaller Snowman be sure to select the design, grab the design by the side handle bars and size it proportionally.

When you have the design to your desired liking, select the Make button in the upper right corner.

Step 3: Mat Preview

Once you have selected Make It, a new window will open with your mat preview screen. On this screen you will see that the software has prepared nine (9) mats for the cut. Use the scroll bar to the left and scroll through all the layers. Take note of each layer and the order of the layers.

In order to reduce the amount of mats and card stock waste, take the snowman on the second white mate and move it to the first white mat. Both elements will cut on one (1) 12x12in card stock sheet. After you have finished making your adjustments to the elements and taken note of the card stock order, ensure that the first mat is selected. If the first mat is not selected the cut order will not match the order of your card stock.

When you are ready to begin your cut, select the Continue button in the lower right corner.

Step 4: Medium Card Stock Cut Settings

Once you click continue, your next screen will have your material selection menu. For this project, I am using the Card Stock for Intricate Cuts Setting. Check to make sure that your Light Grip mats are in the correct order and match the sequence your software has prepared. After you have completed this check, you are ready to begin your cut.

Use your brayer to secure the card stock on the mat. Load your mat with your card stock in the correct position/arrangement. Begin your cut.
