Step 1: Download the Valentine Heart House Layered Paper Craft Free SVG Cut File

You can download the SVG file in my free Resource Library HERE. You can also get the password for my library by filling out the form at the bottom of this post.

Save the downloaded zipped folder to your computer. Take note where on your computer the folder downloads and then unzip the folder to extract the contents. The folder and files must be unzipped (extracted) before you can upload the SVG file into your cutting software.

Step 2: Upload the Valentine Heart House Layered Paper Craft Free SVG Cut File into Design Space

Upload the SVG file into Cricut Design Space. The SVG file will upload grouped together and is prepared to cut just the way it is. You can see that the file is designed to create a Valentine House that is approximately 8.3in x 8.8in. You do not need to resize or ungroup anything. However, if you wish to make the design larger, grab the handle bars at the edge of your bounding box and drag it outwards and it will increase in size proportionally. Please know that if you make the design larger, you may need larger or more card stock.

If you wish to make the design smaller, grab the handle bars at the edge of your bounding box and drag it inwards and it will decrease in size proportionally. Please know that if you make the design smaller, you may have difficulty cutting some layers.

Once you have the design size to your liking, select Make in the upper right corner.

Step 3: Mat Preview

Once you have selected Make It, a new window will open with your mat preview screen. On this screen you will see that the software has prepared twenty (20) mats for the cut! Yes, twenty (20)! Take a few moments and using your scroll bar to the left, go through ALL the mat layers. Take note of the card stock order and rearrange any of the elements to minimize your card stock waste. Also take note that some of the layers do not need a full sheet of card stock–you can use a scrap sheet.

In addition, you will see that there are two pink layers of the same color. These layers can be rearranged so that they fit on one (1) mat.

Once you have made your adjustments to the mats and you are certain of the order, ensure that the first mat is selected. If the first mat is not selected, the cut order will not match the order of your card stock.

When you are ready to begin your cut, select the Continue button in the lower right corner.

Step 4: Card Stock Setting, Load Mat and Cut Materials

After selecting Continue, your next screen will have your material selection menu. For this project, I will use the Card Stock for Intricate Cuts Setting. Check again the order of the mats, arrangement of the elements and ensure that your card stock order matches the software order. Use your Brayer to secure your card stock to your mat. Load your mat into your machine and begin your cut.
