-Materials List

  • I am using my Cricut Explore. You could use your Cricut Maker or another similar cutting machine.
  • Light Grip Cutting Mat
  • Brayer
  • One (1) 12in x 12in sheet of double sided card stock in Light Blue, Pink, and White
  • One 6in x 6in sheet or a scrap of card stock in Yellow
  • Pearl Beads (I used pearls but any color beads would work as long as the color coordinates with your flower)
  • Glue. I am using Art Glitter Glue
  • Hot Glue Gun with Hot Glue Sticks

Instructions

Step 1: Download the Woven Easter Egg Basket Free SVG Cut File

Download the SVG file in my free Resource Library HERE. You can get the password for my library by filling out the newsletter form at the bottom of this post.

Save the downloaded zipped folder on your computer. Pay attention to where on your computer the folder downloads and then unzip the folder to extract the contents. The folder and files must be unzipped (extracted) before you can upload the SVG file into your cutting software.

Step 2: Upload the Woven Easter Egg Basket Free SVG Cut File

Upload the Woven Easter Egg Basket SVG Cut File into Cricut Design Space. The SVG will upload grouped together. It is sized to produce a basket that is approximately 3.5in diameter x 5.5in height. Select the design and Ungroup the file only ONCE by clicking the ungroup button in the upper right corner, under Layers.

Step 3: Ungroup the file and Change Cut Lines to Score Lines

Once the design is ungrouped, select all the small cut lines grouped with the weave elements of the basket and the circle cut line on the basket element. You can select all these elements by holding the CTRL key (PC) or the CMD key (Mac) while selecting the layer. After you have selected the cut lines, select the drop down menu in the OPERATIONS panel and click SCORE. This will change all of the cut lines to SCORE lines.

Step 4: Attach Same Colors and Select Make It

Once you have changed the cut lines to SCORE lines, select all the layers that are the same color. For example, select the basket layer and one weave layer. Right-click on the selection box that has appeared and then select ATTACH in the pop-up menu. Repeat this step and ATTACH the remaining two weave layers and the handle. After you have completed these steps select MAKE It in the upper right corner.

Step 5: Examine the Mat Preview

After you have selected MAKE It, a new window will open with your Mat Preview screen. On this screen you will see that your software has prepared 4 mats. Use the scroll bar, to the left to view all the mats and take note of the order. Arrange your card stock and mats to match the order on your screen. Also check to make sure that on the basket mat, your machine will perform a cut AND score. Check that the mat with the weave layers also shows cut AND score. If both operations are not shown, return to Step 3 to change cut lines to score. Once you have confirmed the order and checked the operations, select Continue.

Step 6: Check Cut Settings

When you click continue, a new window will open with your card stock cut settings. For this project, I will cut using the Card stock 80lb setting. Again, use the scroll bar to the left to confirm the order of mats and operation. Use your brayer to secure your card stock to your mat. Then, once you are satisfied that everything is correct, load your mat and begin your cuts.
